Description:
Cambridge University Press (CUP) is the printing and publishing house of the University of Cambridge. It is the oldest Press in the world and has printed and published continuously since 1584. CUP is established as a trust by Statute of the University and has its own charitable status separate from that of the University. It is an educational charitable enterprise dedicated to printing and publishing for the advancement of knowledge, education and learning worldwide.
International trade is a vital part of the mission set out for CUP at its foundation in 1534; two-thirds of the sales are now made outside the United Kingdom and the Group’s publications are distributed in more than 200 countries. English is not the only language in which Cambridge publishes; local-language publishing, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, has long been part of the Group’s charitable activities, and its publications are widely translated elsewhere.
