Gameland, a publishing house operating since 1992, claims to be the largest special interest media company in Eastern Europe. The Company, sometimes spelled as (game)land, creates verbal and virtual media, mainly represented by monthly magazines for those enthusiastic about sports, cinema, business, video and computer games, information technology, cars, etc. Gameland distributes magazines in more than 120 retail chains in the Russia and CIS countries.
Gameland publishes 19 magazine titles (Game Land, PC Games, Hooligan, Total DVD) and runs 10 online properties with a combined audience of 6.5 million readers.
In August 2008, Gameland acquired its competitor, the specialist interest media company Mediasign, from Camden Partners. Mediasign, which was started in 1998 as a publisher of Car & Music magazine, publishes 12 magazines (Car & Music, Tuning Auto, Tuning Expert) and runs 10 online properties with combined audience of more than 5 million readers. The Company’s revenues were estimated at $15 million in 2007.
After the acquisition, Gameland owns 29 successful magazines, no.1 or 2 in their segments, a TV channel (Gameland TV) and online television (ICQ TV), over 15 major web-projects, a few interactive and live events.
