Economedia, set up by Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt and the Bulgarian Agency for Investment Information (AII) in the beginning of 2005, is the no.1 biggest business media group and the no.2 largest publisher in Bulgaria. Economedia publishes newspapers and special-interest magazines and operates several websties.

On October 16, 2007, the Bulgarian publishers in Economedia Ivo Prokopiev and Philip Harmandjiev have agreed to purchase the shares of the German Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt (VHB). Until now Ivo Prokopiev and Philip Harmandjiev owned 50% of the company. The transaction was permitted by Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) in November 2007.
